Purple pound – the spending power of disabled people.

Purple pound

Did you know that the spending power of disabled people is around £249 billion – making it good business sense to ensure your shops and businesses are accessible to disabled people.

Monday 3 December is the International Day of Disabled People and the Council House will be lit in purple to promote the purple pound.

One of the barriers facing disabled people, particularly visually impaired people, is the incorrect positioning of Advertising Boards. Derby City Council can help with advice and support on where your A Board is best placed and also with making your business more user friendly for visually impaired people.

For more details on this and about the purple pound please contact Ann Webster, Council Lead on Equality and Diversity 01332 643722 / 07812301144 ann.webster@derby.gov.uk
