Built in 1650 The Old Bell Hotel is full of secrets and mysteries from hidden tunnels to conspiracies.

It’s the Cathedral Quarter Hotel, which was taken over by new management in May. Since then, Sri Lanka-based Lavendish Leisure, say guest bookings are up, and most rooms sell out at the weekend.

Hotelier Isuru Akalanka, the newly appointed operations manager, is enjoying putting his stamp on the Grade II-listed Cathedral Quarter Hotel on St Mary’s Gate and is determined to make it a top destination for visitors to Derby.

You probably also know that the late Queen Elizabeth II dined there in 2010!
