Paul Johnstone is a self-taught painter who specialises in mark making with oil and canvas that are a visualise portrayal of his ideas. Having used these techniques for many years, in this collection he has adapted his approach to pursue themes of nature, mood, abstract and impressionism. The only constant thread in the pictures is this technique.
Within his paintings, Paul retains an element of ambiguity so that the image is open for the viewer to interpret. Working seasonally, he likes to contrast large colour pictures for summer against smaller monochrome ones that represent winter.
