Commissioned by Surtal Arts with support from Arts Council, eight emerging artists from Derby & Derbyshire will create 11 stunning giant lantern sculpture in a trail through the city.
Inspired by the theme of climate action, the “World of Flowers” trail will see 1-3metre high LED-lit lanterns, made of eco-friendly or recycled materials, appear in 11 different locations around Derby city and Normanton – connecting Derby’s diverse communities and places.
Families can go hunting for these special sculptures while discovering new places, people and stories and take pride in the city we call ‘home’.
The trail is free to everyone. A trail map will be uploaded soon. Locations are: Quad, Artcore, Thrivemind Village, St.Peter’s Church, Electric Daisy, Derby College (opens from November), Derby Train Station, Heart of the Park Arboretum, Jamia Mosque, Hindu Temple and Guru Arjundev Gurdwara.
