Derby City Council is planning for Derby residents to be able to join from their home environment with an online, pre-recorded service to be broadcast on Remembrance Sunday 8th November at 11.00am.
Derby Cathedral is also offering citizens the opportunity to light a candle of remembrance at Derby Cathedral in the week prior to Remembrance Sunday.
Sadly, the coronavirus pandemic has put a stop to the traditional Remembrance service, which sees residents turn out in their thousands to watch veterans proudly parade to the war memorial in the Market Place, alongside armed forces cadets as well as cubs, brownies, scouts and guides. The decision has been made in consultation with the Royal British Legion, Derby Cathedral and other partnerships traditionally engaged in this Act of Remembrance.
Details of the service are still being finalised but will be announced in due course.
