The History of Amber Mill, Shirland
24/04/2014 - 24/04/2014
Derby Local Studies Library

Amber Mill wasn’t the first, the biggest, or the most successful of its kind. In fact it has slipped into the pages of history almost unnoticed. Join local historian Richard Patilla as he uncovers the fascinating story and mixed fortunes of a local mill, its owners, workers and apprentices.

This talk has been put together from a variety of sources and demonstrates that even for the most unassuming of buildings plenty of evidence exists to illustrate their initial purpose, working lives and final fate.

The present Amber Mill has now been converted into apartments, but still maintains some industrial connection in the form of "Royce Wood handmade tiles".

Costs £6   Early booking is advised. Book online at http://ambermill.eventbrite.co.uk or visit Derby Local Studies Library to purchase your ticket by cash or cheque.
